Epara Skincare : bespoke products for women of color

From the Nigerian dialect of Ebira, EPARA means “to cocoon oneself”. This luxury skincare brand was founded by Ozohu Adoh, former strategy advisor, Oxford graduate and entrepreneur. The range  was developed out of necessity as like many of us, Ozohu had tried many products to get rid of uneven skin tone and hyper-pigmentation.

In 2014 Ozohu decided that she was probably the best person for the  job because surely a woman of color should be the one developing skincare products for other women of color.

If the skincare range was to cater for brown girls it made sense to look for organic ingredients in Africa. Not only did she find what was best suited for black skin, but also ended up supporting local communities as well as fair trade practices.

EPARA products are between 95% – 100% natural and free from synthetics, mineral oils and harsh chemicals, using precious botanicals, essential oils and plant extracts such as Argan and coconut oils, mango butter, marula, niacin amide, sweet almond, yang yang and aloe vera (…) that can all be found in the range of products to clean, soften, hydrate, nourish, and protect the skin.

Surprisingly, very few women follow a thorough skincare regime, which is why EPARA has developed an easy to follow skincare morning and evening routines.

The range of (10) products starts at £40 (Cleansing lotion) and goes up to £180 (Hydrating Serum).
